It’s called “The Magnificent Mile” for a reason, and having wine at The Shanghai Terrace at The Peninsula Chicago proves it!   The setting of The Shanghai Terrace comes with magnificent (would any other word fit?) surroundings with an enchanting Oriental theme.

Continuing on the theme of “magnificent” is the wine list.

For a late August visit to The Peninsula Hotel Chicago, white wines were in order for enjoying all that The Shanghai Terrace had to offer.  A Selbach Incline Riesling from Germany and a Colterenzoi Pinot Grigio from Italy were up to the task of lending refreshment to the summer evening.  Ordering the Coletenzio chilled was not a problem, and it arrived at a temperature just right to my taste for peak enjoyment in the summer evening.  Making it even more magnificent (there’s that word, again!) was the Chicago skyline, towering in the background.  A center of finance, industry, and commerce, Chicago truly is “The Second City.”

Chicago radio talk show co-host Jax Turyna is big fan of dry Rieslings.  The Selbach Incline was up to the challenge.  Pairing nicely with the Selbach Incline Riesling was Orange Chicken and Edamame from the menu.

All of this took place during The Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival, sponsored by Mastercard.  No matter what the wine lover was looking for, it was to be found in Chicago on The Magnificent Mile.  The Shanghai Terrace at The Peninsula Hotel Chicago was the ideal place to kick back and relax after a hard day spent going up and doing The Magnificent Mile, taking it all that it had to offer.

So, along with Chicago celebrity Jax Turyna, let’s all toast to the finest that The Second City has to offer at The Shanghai Terrace at The Chicago Peninsula Hotel!
